UB High School Girl Scouts on the Move

Written by Maricris Gabriel (UBHS Girl Scout Coordinator)

The University of Baguio High School Girl Scouts enthusiastically participated in the Council Camp 2025, held from February 14 to 16, 2025, at Baguio City National Science High School, Purok 12, Irisan, Baguio City. They were also accompanied by their Tita Maricris J. Gabriel and Tita Novy C. Galletes This exciting event brought together scouts from different schools to embark on a journey of learning, camaraderie, and adventures.

With the inspiring theme “GS Adventures Everywhere: Fun Awaits Indoors and Outdoors,” the 15 Girl Scouts of UBHS engaged in a variety of activities designed to enhance their skills, leadership, and teamwork. From thrilling outdoor challenges to insightful indoor workshops, the camp provided the perfect setting for these young scouts to grow and excel.

The event featured Outdoor Exploration & Camping wherein the UBHS Girl Scouts actively participated in the Fire Station Adventure, engaging in six exciting stations: Station 1 – Basic Life Support and First Aid, Station 2 – Smoke House and Fire Extinguisher, Station 3 – Firefighter’s Ladder, Station 4 – Fire Safety and Firefighting Equipment, Station 5 – Knot Tying, and Station 6 – Rappelling, where they gained essential skills in emergency response, fire safety, and rescue techniques. The scouts also had their morning walk from the camping site going to the newly opened tourist spot located at Purok 20, Upper Irisan – the Dragon Treasure Castle. It is a magnificent structure made of limestone, constructed with the great masonry skills and creativity of Igorots.

The scouts enjoyed the Skill-Building Workshops as they engaged in indoor sessions that helped them develop creativity, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Through the exciting activities in the last event, Team Challenges & Games, bonds among the participants were strengthened and sportsmanship was boosted.

The participation of the 15 Girl Scouts of the UBHS in this memorable camp was a testament to their dedication to the scouting spirit. The three-day adventure allowed them to connect with fellow scouts, gain valuable experiences, and reinforce the principles of responsibility, courage, and teamwork which are fostered in SDG 4 for quality education.

As they returned to their school, these young scouts carry with them the lessons and friendships forged during the camp, ready to inspire and share with others their newfound knowledge and enthusiasm for scouting.
