In a dynamic move toward enhancing teaching practices and learner outcomes, the Junior High School teachers of the University of Baguio joined fellow educators across the region in the 2025 Private Education Assistance Committee’s (PEAC) In-Service Training (INSET) for Junior High School Teachers held on June 23–25, 2025, at Saint Louis University (SLU) High School, Navy Base Campus. With the timely theme, “Designing, Facilitating, and Assessing Student Learning of the Revised K to 10 Curriculum in Blended Learning Environments Amid Disruptions,” the training placed teachers at the forefront of innovation and resilience.

This year’s INSET served as a significant professional development milestone, equipping educators with practical and research-based strategies in response to the evolving demands of education brought by technological shifts, environmental uncertainties, and global challenges. By focusing on the Revised K–10 Curriculum, the training emphasized the design of meaningful learning experiences, facilitation of student-centered instruction, and implementation of responsive assessment tools, all while navigating the complexities of blended learning modalities.

INSET 2025 Highlights at a Glance

The training equipped educators with essential skills and insights to navigate the Revised K–10 Curriculum in blended learning environments:

  • Curriculum Unpacking – Clarified subject-specific competencies to guide effective lesson design.
  • Hands-On Workshops – Introduced digital platforms and instructional tools that support engaging and accessible blended learning amidst class disruptions.
  • Assessment Innovation – Strengthened teachers’ capacity to use feedback-driven formative and summative assessments.
  • Best Practice Sharing – Inspired participants through real-life stories of adaptive teaching from fellow educators.

Beyond skill-building, the three-day learning event stirred a deeper awareness of education’s role in a rapidly shifting world, underscoring the need for resilient and adaptive instructional approaches, especially in light of technological access gaps, climate-related disruptions, and evolving learner needs.

Advancing Global Goals through Local Action

The PEAC INSET 2025 echoed the global vision of sustainable, inclusive, and innovative education through its alignment with key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 4: Quality Education, by ensuring inclusive and equitable access to effective teaching strategies and lifelong learning opportunities for both students and teachers.
  • SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by promoting the integration of technology and innovation in the teaching-learning process.
  • SDG 13: Climate Action, as discussions touched on incorporating sustainability and disaster-resilient education in classroom content and delivery.
  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, as the INSET fosters collaboration among educators, institutions, and education support organizations for long-term improvement in education.

A Leap Toward Transformative Impact

As the training drew to a close, one resounding message prevailed: teachers are not just implementers, they are designers of change. The three-day engagement reinvigorated participants’ commitment to shaping empowered learners and building learning environments that are inclusive, innovative, and disruption-ready.

With hearts ignited and tools in hand, UB Junior High School educators return to their classrooms not only with new knowledge but with a stronger resolve to be problem solvers, student advocates, and nation-builders.

Together, they are not just responding to change; they are leading it.
